1 Whats the different?

POP3 and IMAP are 2 different methods to access emails. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

1.1 IMAP

Emails are stored on the server

  • You have to manually remove some emails to free up server space (or pay more to get more space).

Messages are "Synchronized" across multiple devices

  • If you deleted or replied an email on your phone, the email is also deleted or replied on your computer.

2 POP3

Emails are stored on your computer

  • In another word, no worry about server space.

Emails are "Not Synchronized" between multiple devices

  • For example, if you deleted a junk mail on your computer, the same junk mail is still on your phone.

3 Should I use IMAP or POP3?

  • If you use both Phone and Computer to access your email, use IMAP.
  • If you only use your office computer to access your email, use POP3.
